You configure the Conversion Service using the Configurator.

danger

Unlike the 3-Heights® Document Converter, the configuration files must not be edited manually. The configurator must be used to change any settings. Editing the Conversion Service configuration files may cause the service to fail. Do not make any changes to these files.

Configuring Microsoft Office

Similar to the 3-Heights® Document Converter, the Conversion Service uses Microsoft Office applications to process jobs containing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.

caution

The Conversion Service cannot be installed on the same machine where the 3-Heights® Document Converter client or service is running due to conflicts between Microsoft Office configurations.

If you plan to run both services in parallel while migrating to the Conversion Service, then you need to install the Conversion Service on a separate machine.

You can convert Microsoft Office files using:

  • a local Microsoft Office installation
  • the Microsoft Office for the web service

To set up the Conversion Service, see Convert Microsoft Office files.
