In June 2026, the Pdftools documentation included the following updates:

Added​

  • Restructured the Release management page with separate sections for feature releases, long-term support (LTS) releases, and discontinued products. Each section explains the support commitment and, for legacy products, the successor product to migrate to.
  • Added a Version availability section to the Release management page.
  • Added version-availability notices to each product’s release notes, stating the earliest version that remains available.
  • Added release notes for Conversion Service version 6.12.0, introducing native Linux packaging (.deb and .rpm), a Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint, an in-app Playground in the Web Configurator, Smart Redact connectors, and automatic trial licensing.
  • Added release notes for Conversion Service version 6.12.1, a patch release that corrects license validation through the License Gateway Service (LGS) in offline deployments.
  • Added release notes for Pdftools OCR Service version 1.1.3 and version 1.1.4, which introduce Linux support and a Linux installation guide.
  • Added release notes for PDF Viewer SDK version 4.3.8.
  • Added a link to the online demo to PDF Viewer SDK documentation landing page.
  • Added a link to the online playground demo of AI Smart Redact documentation landing page, a hosted environment for trying sensitive-data detection and redaction on sample documents.
  • Added an Extract text from PDF guide for Pdftools SDK.
  • Redesigned the documentation landing page and refreshed the product illustrations.

Changed​

  • Removed stale full code-sample examples from the Pdftools SDK guides and linked to the maintained code samples on GitHub instead.
  • Made the WSL or Git Bash requirement prominent for Windows users in the AI Smart Redact getting-started documentation.
