AI Smart Redact licensing

AI Smart Redact supports two license validation modes: offline and runtime. Offline keys embed the expiration date and validate locally with no internet connection required. Runtime keys validate online against the Pdftools Licensing Service.

Non-blocking licensing

AI Smart Redact licensing is non-blocking. The service never stops processing if you exceed the contractual page volume. Licensing depends solely on the license key expiration date.

Get a license​

To get a license key or discuss pricing, contact sales.

AI Smart Redact license keys have the following format:

<RDCTSRV,V1,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX>

Find your license key​

To find and copy your AI Smart Redact license key:

  1. Sign up or log in to the Pdftools Portal.
  2. On the Products page, find AI Smart Redact and open the product details.
  3. Copy the license key.

Configure offline license key validation​

AI Smart Redact uses a single license key across the Manager, Worker, and Orchestrator services. Set the PDFTOOLS_LICENSE_KEY environment variable to apply the key. For end-to-end deployment instructions, see Getting started.

Page consumption tracking with an offline key is self-reported and optional.

Other validation methods​

AI Smart Redact also supports runtime validation (online validation against the Pdftools Licensing Service) and the Licensing Gateway Service (LGS), which routes validation through a locally hosted gateway. For setup instructions, see Licensing Service configuration.
