In September 2025, the Pdftools documentation included the following updates:
Added
- Restructured and expanded the Pdftools OCR Service documentation:
- Consolidated Get started with OCR in the Conversion Service guide to provide information from installation to initial configuration.
- New page Pdftools OCR Service licensing with Configuration in connected mode and full offline mode section. The page includes details on how to configure the Pdftools OCR Service in both Connected mode and Full offline mode. Additionally, the Pdftools OCR Service licensing includes additional setup steps that you must follow for the OCR service after configuring the Pdftools Licensing Service in Full Offline mode or Connected mode.
- New page Work with profiles.
- Improved directory structure and information architecture, more comprehensive URLs, shortened titles and sidebar labels, and fixes in References.
- Added release notes for Version 1.0.1.
- The Pdftools SDK released a patch version 1.13.1.
- The Toolbox add-on SDK released a minor version 1.10.0.
- The Pdftools SDK Shell Tool released a patch version 1.9.1.
- The Conversion Service released the following versions:
- The Conversion Service licensing includes the following new sections:
- The PDF Viewer SDK released minor version 5.8.0 with updated API references.
- Added section LGS supported operating systems and environments.
- Full offline mode page includes a note about the limitations of full offline mode, and the tabs that display Linux Snap package installation mention that the Licensing Gateway Service requires glibc 2.34+.
- The Pdftools SDK and Toolbox add-on code samples received the following updates:
- Added the right panel table of contents (TOC) to provide an overview of categories within the samples.
- Fixed code highlighting inconsistency, dark and light mode switching.
- The code samples now use the correct code theme in both light and dark modes.
- Responsive TOC for smaller screens added on top of the pages as a clickable On this page modal.

Removed references to languages that the Pdftools OCR Service doesn’t support. These languages include Arabic, Burmese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Farsi, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Latvian (written in Gothic script), Old English, Old French, Old German, Old Italian, Old Slavonic, Old Spanish, Pashto, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Yiddish.

- Typo fixes, delivery, and style improvements in all pages within the Workflows category of the Conversion Service docs.
- Updated the Algolia Search integration to the latest version and reimplemented its custom features. To open the search modal, use Ctrl + k on Linux or Windows, and ⌘+ k on macOS.
Example custom search feature: When you search within a product area, such as Pdftools SDK, Conversion Service, or What’s new, the search displays results from that product area first. - Updated code sample downloadable links in the Guides category with links to newly added languages for each use case, making them more prominently visible. For example, the Archive a PDF document to PDF/A guide includes a visible admonition stating Quick start with a code sample with bold links to each sample, including C, Python, and Visual Basic.
- Fixed the Conversion Service version selection menu from appearing on the What’s new page.
- The llms.txt and llms-full.txt autogeneration issues.
