In March 2025, the Pdftools documentation included the following updates:
Added
- Pdftools SDK documentation now includes the Embed e-invoice guide and a related code sample, Create a ZUGFeRD invoice. You can use the provided information and code sample to create e-invoices in both ZUGFeRD and Factur-X formats.
- Pdftools SDK version 1.9 release notes and Toolbox add-on version 1.6 release notes.
- Conversion Service release notes for version 6.0.0 were added. Two significant documentation updates are connected to this version:
- Conversion Service documentation now includes the Conversion Service on OpenShift guide.
- The beta version of the Web Configurator was released with an initial minimal documentation section, Configure profiles using Configurator Web.
- The Conversion Service log files are now explained in the Conversion Service on Windows Server getting started guide.
- PDF Viewer SDK version 5.4.0 release notes. The PDF Viewer SDK API references were also updated.
- Added PDF Toolbox SDK 4.4.9 patch release notes. Note that PDF Toolbox SDK features and functionality are now included in the Toolbox add-on for Pdftools SDK.
- The Algolia Search widget in this documentation now includes an option to use your search input in the kapa.ai widget. When you search for a term in the Algolia Search widget, you can click Can you tell me about, which is marked as the first search result, to get an answer from kapa.ai, an LLM trained specifically on the data from this documentation website.
- The documentation website now includes lightboxes for images. When you click an image, it is enlarged to display more detail. The lightbox can be closed by pressing any key on your keyboard or scrolling.
Changed
- The Download button included in the code samples was moved below the programming language selection to clarify that these code samples, such as Pdftools SDK code samples or Toolbox add-on code samples, must be downloaded so you can use them.
- The optional Install and configure additional clients section in the Conversion Service getting started guide was moved within the guide.
- If you are installing the Conversion Service on regular Windows (instead of Windows Server), you no longer need the
msiexec /i ConversionService-VERSION_NUMBER.msi PDF_TOOLS_DISABLE_OS_CHECK=1
command to enable the installation. This step was removed from the Conversion Service in Docker getting started guide. - The PDF Toolbox SDK version 3.11 and the Conversion Service version 3.11 were removed from the Supported LTS product releases table in Release management documentation. The official LTS support for both product versions ended in 2024. PDF Viewer SDK version 4.3 was added as one of the LTS versions.
Fixed
- Fixed documentation website caching issues and related broken links.
- Simplified headers, labels, and clarified placeholders in Conversion Service documentation.
- Removed repeated word Configure in nearly every Conversion Service Configure documentation section item.
- Added a note that the Licensing Gateway Service is already installed with the Conversion Service on Windows Server. Installing LGS a second time may render the Conversion Service unusable. The note also clarifies that full offline mode functionality is unavailable in the Conversion Service. Review Full offline mode for more information.
