In February 2026, the Pdftools documentation included the following updates:
Added
- Added release notes for the Conversion Service version 6.9.0 with support for converting S/MIME signed emails (
.p7m), a progress indicator in the Configurator, and warning subcategories in the Configurator. - Added a getting started guide for deploying Conversion Service on IONOS Cloud using Windows virtual machines or Managed Kubernetes.
- Added release notes for the PDF Viewer SDK version 4.3.6.
- Added Microsoft Office is installed but not detected troubleshooting section for the Conversion Service.
- Added supported programming language versions to Pdftools SDK and Toolbox add-on technical specifications.
- Clarified that PDF Viewer SDK version 5 doesn’t require a license key in the Getting started guide.
- Added tags with SEO meta descriptions across all five documentation products (Conversion Service, Pdftools SDK, Toolbox add-on, PDF Viewer SDK, and OCR Service).
- Implemented canonical URLs for versioned documentation pages, directing search engines to the latest version.
- Added MCP server support to the Kapa.ai widget. As a result, AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor can access the Pdftools documentation through the Kapa.ai MCP server. To add Pdftools documentation MCP server:
- Click Ask AI widget on the Pdftools documentation portal.
- Click Use MCP, and then select one of the options.

Changed
- Updated the PDF Viewer SDK version 4 documentation to reflect the npm package scope change in version 4.3.6.
Fixed
- Updated Go code snippets in the Pdftools SDK Get started with other programming languages guide with idiomatic Go conventions, including short variable declarations and proper cgo import formatting.
- Added missing meta descriptions to multiple documentation pages across the Conversion Service, Pdftools SDK, Toolbox add-on, and legacy product documentation.
