PDF Tools AG presents the latest version of the 3-Heights™ Document Converter at the DMS EXPO 2011. The comprehensive solution for document conversion for enterprises of any size handles scanned documents, emails, MS Office and other working documents and converts them to PDF and PDF/A for document archiving and interchange. It comes with additional features, such as text recognition via OCR and digital signatures. This year’s version introduces a series of new functionalities:
 

  • Creation and validation of PDF/A-2 compliant documents
  • A Small & Medium Enterprise Edition (SME Edition)
  • Compression and conversion of scanned documents
  • Support for new input document formats

Additionally, visitors of the DMS EXPO can look at even more new and powerful features of this product. As an example, its integrated validation module checks if archive-documents comply with the ISO certified specifications. By deploying the service on multiple servers, a high-performance and highly reliable system for business-critical applications can be established.

PDF/A-1 vs PDF/A-2

Since 2005, PDF/A has been the standard for document archiving in the long term. The first part PDF/A‑1, was based on PDF version 1.4. This year, the second part PDF/A‑2 was released, and it introduced a lot of functional extensions.
