PDF Tools products once again a step ahead!

Final Release 1.91 for the 3-Heights™ product family and Final Release 3.4 for Classic Tools are further clear indicators of the above-average quality and performance that PDF Tools AG demands of its products. Extended functionality and numerous product improvements mean even more powerful PDF tools for our customers. It is our pleasure to introduce them to you. As always, further information is available in the Release Notes.

Final Release 3-Heights™ 1.91 and Classic 3.4

The final version 1.91 of the 3-Heights™ family heralds the release of two new products. The PDF Merge Split API is specifically designed for efficiently splitting and merging pages from large and numerous documents. In particular, input documents in PDF/A format are recreated as PDF/A output documents. The PDF Creator Library is fully equipped for programmatically creating PDF/A compliant documents from scratch.

The functions for creating and verifying digital signatures have seen extensive further development in the form of the PDF Security component and the PDF to PDF/A Converter. In particular, long-term signatures are now supported through embedding certificate verification information (OCSP, CRL) and time stamps (TSP). Together they fulfill the prerequisite for creating progressive electronic signatures that are fully compliant with the new PadES Standard and legal requirements (EU Directives and the Swiss Signature Act). The interface PKCS#11 can control hardware (HSM) for signing large numbers of documents, for instance as required in conjunction with the dispatch of electronic invoices.

The OCR add-on is now supplied with an improved version of ABBYY character recognition. Alternatively, customers can opt to include the free Tesseract OCR Engine for the Image to PDF Converter, PDF to PDF/A Converter and Document Converter Service products.

This release introduces numerous improvements to all products. The most important subjects are: full compatibility with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, improved embedding and verification of XMP metadata, support of Windows 64 Bit platforms for the Classic product range, and much more. Please see Release Notes 1.91 and Release Notes 3.4 or details.
