License Types for Components
The following types of licenses are available for components:
Development license

Development License
A development license is required for every developer work station where a PDF Tools product is installed and used. A rebate is offered for additional developer licenses. Team licenses, floating licenses and site licenses are also available. Please contact us for more information about these special types of licenses by email to pdfsales.
Deployment License
A deployment license is necessary for distribution and productive use. This also applies to internal applications that are not used for development but instead use PDF Tools AG products for the creation, processing and rendering of PDF documents. PDF Tools AG offers a standard licensing model for:
- Single work stations
- Named users
- Concurrent users
- Servers / CPUs
- Throughput model
- ASP / SaaS
- Kiosk
In addition to the standard license types, PDF Tools also offers:
- Yearly and multi-year throughput volume licenses
- Unlimited licenses
- Site and enterprise licenses
- Revenue model
- and further licensing options
These different license types can be applied on a case by case basis as needed. Our licensing model is designed to be adapted to your requirements. It should be noted that with certain PDF Tools AG products the deployment license is already included in the development license. OEM License
The licensing conditions of PDF Tools AG permit the integration of components and solutions into a licensee’s own software products.
If you are developing software products that will be used by other developers, for example an API, class library or similar component, then you require a special license. A special license is also necessary if you are delivering your product together with the source code (or in another modifiable format) to your customers. Our aim is to provide a licensing model that is compatible with your own model. Please contact pdfsales if you require more details and take note of the information on our OEM partner page.
License for Test System
A license for a test system can only be purchased and used in combination with a production license.
Evaluation License
An evaluation license allows the customer to verify the functionality of the software, and may not be used for development or in productive use. The resulting PDF documents are stamped with a watermark. Evaluation licenses are free of charge and are valid for 30 days after downloading.

Deployment license for Server Solution
A basic deployment license for a server solution includes a throughput volume of 360'000 pages per year, whereby the total number of processed pages is considered. Reaching the licensed volume has no influence on the functionality of the product.
A degression factor is applied for throughputs of more than 360’000 pages per year, eventually reducing the price per page down to a fraction of that for the basic model. If you have volumes larger than 360’000 pages per year, please contact our sales department by email to pdfsales.
License for Desktop Solution
A license of a desktop solution is required for using our products on a workstation, independent of the number of processed pages. The prices for desktop products can be found in our pricing model.
License for Test System
A license for a test system can only be purchased and used in combination with a deployment license.

An evaluation license allows the customer to verify the functionality of the software, and may not be used for development or in productive use. The resulting PDF documents are stamped with a watermark. Evaluation licenses are free of charge and are valid for 30 days after downloading.

Audit
We trust you will license correctly. Therefore your invoice will usually be based on the results of your self-audit. At the end of each contractual year you report the actual throughput to us on the basis of the page counter.
Maintenance and Support
You will receive free of charge any new version released within 30 days of your purchase. You will need a Maintenance & Support Contract to continue receiving new versions, bug-fixes and technical support after the 30-day period has expired.
General Licensing Conditions
When you license a product you are accepting our General Licensing Conditions. PDF Tools AG can amend the licensing conditions at any time. However, these amendments shall only apply to contractual relationships that come into being after the amended version has come into effect.
